Elearning - Week 1
What makes an application interactive?
From my opinion, an interactive application means it must have the features that can attracts the users in using the application, such able to communicate with the games, achievements when completed a mission in game, interactive guide to teach you on how to use the applications and etc. Thus, interactive plays a big part here. To make the game appealing, both users and the application must interactive with one another.
An application that is interactive can include great animations done, have features that the users can control the application to its fullest without getting bored of it, as well as encouraging words to motivate the users when the users clear a stage or complete a mission, to attract the users continue to use the application for a long time or again and again, it is like talking to a virtual friend when using the application.
How can interactivity be exploited in the chosen application? Put in another words, how can interactivity enhance the user experience for the chosen application?
What I would be doing on is Entertainment applications. Using the definations of interactive, i have found out hw interactivity chance the user experience by using some of the definations below.
Why the old tetris game can be so famous even up to now?
User Control - In the entire tetris game, users can take full control of the game. It is up to them to choose where to place the blocks on in which position in order for them to clear the lines and get a higher score.
Responsiveness - When users clear a single or more lines of blocks, the score will be automatically increase in no time, thus it is very straight foward, whereby when the users fail the game and its game over, the users can reflect on the scores and know that if he has done well or not.
Now, think of your interactive game. What factors should you consider to enhance the interactivity of your game?
I would choose the game tetris.
Although tetris the game is every very well-done, however everything is not perfect and still have rooms for improvements. Overall, Tetris is a very simple and easy to understand game. Thus, to enhance the interactivity of the game, we must consider such as to interact easily with simple moves, not too complicated, as well as the six components that we have gone through on the definations of interactivity. One example is that when we place each of the block, they will show a text saying "Good", where u place the block in a good position, or "Bad", where you mis-place the box and create a hole to the other blocks which makes it difficult clear the lines to increase your scores in the scoreboard.
